Photography Accomplishments

Reb Orrell began photography back in the film days. He has shot for the Port of Baltimore Magazine & the Gettysburg Paranormal Association. His photos have appeared on book covers, in TV commercials, in national print advertising campaigns and on CD covers.

He is the founder & Past President of the Baltimore HDR Photography Club and the founder & Past President of the Creative Photography Society.

Reb regularly competes in print, digital, & online competition. In 2013, he was named the “Digital Photographer of the Year” for the Arundel Camera Club. He won “Monochrome Photo of the Year” & “Photograph of the Year” for the Baltimore HDR Photography Club.

In all, he has won over 3,000 awards taking many 1st Place awards. He has also won “Editor’s Choice Award”, “Photo of the Day”, “Photo of the Week”, & “Photo of the Month” in online competition as well as “Judge’s Choice Award”, many times beating out thousands of entries.

Reb frequently leads photo safaris to such places as the Bahamas, Albuquerque, New York City, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, Richmond & other locations. He is a sought after instructor, club speaker, and contest judge.

Working under the name of “Pictures that Pop!, Inc.”, he does commercial, real estate & portrait photography. Working under the name of “Virtual Business Tours 360”, he does commercial, real estate & portrait photography.

 

Business Accomplishments

In 2009, he was the keynote commencement speaker at the Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore, Inc. (WEB). In 2010, Reb Orrell won the “ Home Based Business Champion Award ” from the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce. The Small Business Administration of the United States named him the “ Home Based Business Champion Award ” for the State of Maryland over 37,000 home based businesses.

Reb Orrell became interested in photography when camera used film and slides were still all the rage. Progressing from a Canon TX to a Canon AE-1, he continued to shoot in the 35mm area. In 1976 he was approached to photograph a wedding. Operating under the name of “Orrell Wedding Photography” he photographed 150 weddings from 1976 – 1981.

It was during that period he moved into the medium format range (2 1/4″ sq) and began using a Mamiya C220 and a Mamiya 330.

When he added portraits and commercial assignments to his business he jumped up a Mamiya RB67. Putting photography aside for many years he returned to it in 2009. Digital was the norm and everything was different. He entered the digital arena with a Nikon D40, them moved up to a Nikon D90, and is currently using a Nikon D300s.

His main area of interest is Google Virtual Business Tours and Real Estate Photography and other commercial photography. For fun there’s “scapes” (landscapes, architecture, sunrise/sunset, animals and flowers).

He is, or has been a member, of the Arbutus Camera Club, Arundel Camera Club, Bowie-Crofton Camera Club, and Baltimore Camera Club. He also competes in online international competition and has won well over 1,200 different awards.

In 2013 we was named the “Digital Photographer of the Year” by the Arundel Camera Club.

Reb’s favorite photography technique is called HDR or “High Dynamic Range”. In 2011 he formed the “Baltimore HDR Photography Club” and in 2013 formed the “Creative Photography Society”.
He has taught photo safaris on a cruise to the Bahamas, and a safari in New Mexico.

He also teaches photography for “Washington Photo Safari” leading safaris & teaching workshops. He & David Luria will be leading a one-week cruise to the Bahamas in 2017.

Reb is a member of the Pasadena Business Association, Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce.

He was awarded the Small Business Association’s ““Home Based Business Champion of the Year”” for Maryland.
